Wise certification

WISE stands for Wireless Industry Service Excellence. WISE Certification is a standalone, independent certification program administered by CTIA Certification, the wireless industry’s certification organization. The program includes a repair service provider component as well as a repair technician certification component.

Amazon Renewed Quality Program now requires wireless device resellers to obtain WISE Authorized Service Center, Level 2 to qualify for the Amazon Renewed Premium Program.

Amazon Sellers who do not own a brand authorization - what does this mean?

The term "Amazon sellers who do not own a brand authorization" refers to third-party sellers on Amazon who list and sell branded products without explicit permission from the brand owner or manufacturer. These sellers would be subjected to R2v3 + CTIA Level II certification as a minimum before they can participate in this program.

Definition: A brand authorization is formal permission (often in the form of a letter or agreement) from a brand owner allowing a seller to list and sell their products on Amazon. Sellers without this authorization are reselling branded products without direct approval from the brand, often sourcing products from retail stores, wholesalers, or other third-party suppliers.

How to Sell Legitimately on Amazon

To avoid the risks of selling without brand authorization, sellers should follow these steps, which align with your interest in professional certifications and compliance (e.g., WISE, ISO standards):

  1. Obtain Brand Authorization:

    • Contact the brand owner directly to request a Letter of Authorization (LOA), specifying permission to sell on Amazon. The LOA should include the brand’s letterhead, seller details, trademark information, and authorized products.

    • Work with authorized distributors or wholesalers approved by the brand, ensuring invoices are recent (within 90–180 days) and match Seller Central details

Steps to achieve Wise Certification

Step 1:
For facilities who also offer device recycling services, for sustainability best practices it is recommended that the service facility obtain either R2v3 or e-Stewards certification. The service facility shall use a certified R2v3 recycling partner or certified e-Stewards partner when disposing of any scrap material.

Step 2:
As a part of the authorization process, you will need to select what level of repairs your facility is conducting. A Level 2 ASC is authorized to perform Level 1 events and effect repairs that require the device to be opened but do not require soldering.

Step 3:
For a facility seeking Level 2 authorization, line managers must obtain WISE Level 2 Technician Certification. Amazon Renewed Quality Program requirements state that Line Technicians to be WISE Level 2 trained.

Step 4:
Application for CTIA Membership is a requirement of authorization.

Step 5:
Pay the annual license fee of $2,000 USD for each authorized location. CTIA Certification will invoice the facility for the fee as a last step in the authorization process

Step 6:
Review and implement the Policies and Procedures for WISE Authorized Service Center(s) with the help of Paradygm Consultants - who can walk your organization through the process step-by-step.

Step 7:
Paradygm Consultants will perform the internal audit often referred to as the PRE-Audit to close out any potential GAPS and ensure a successful certification.

Step 2:
Scheduling the audit and obtaining the certification.
