AS9100 Revision D is the current aerospace quality management system standard. It was published on 20 September 2016 and is still the edition certification bodies audit against. - AS9100 Rev D (2016) is current. It is listed as the current 9100 edition in the IAQG Standards Register (February 2026). AS9100D certificates remain valid.
- IA9100 has not been published. IAQG is developing the successor, renumbered IA9100. It has not published it or announced a release date or transition deadline. Any date you see quoted elsewhere is an estimate.
- AS9110 and AS9120 follow the same path. The current editions are AS9110 Rev C and AS9120 Rev B. They are expected to become IA9110 and IA9120 in the same series. No dates have been published.
- AS9100C is long retired. Certificates to AS9100:2009 (Rev C) had to transition to Rev D by 15 September 2018.

Why aerospace customers ask for AS9100
Major aerospace OEMs and primes commonly require AS9100-family certification from their suppliers. AS9100 is published around the world under different numbers (AS9100 in the Americas, EN 9100 in Europe, JIS Q 9100 in Japan), but the content is the same. Certified suppliers are listed in IAQG's OASIS database, which customers use to check certification status.

Frequently asked questions
What is the current version of AS9100?
AS9100 Revision D, published 20 September 2016. IAQG is developing its successor, IA9100, but has not published it or announced a release date.
Is my AS9100D certificate still valid?
Yes. Nothing published so far changes it. When IA9100 is released, IAQG will set a transition period. Until then, AS9100D is the edition you are audited against.
Should we wait for IA9100 before getting certified?
Usually not. Customers ask for AS9100D certification today, and the IA9100 draft builds on AS9100D. Strengthening areas the draft highlights, such as product safety, counterfeit parts and FOD, now will make the later transition smaller.
What is the difference between AS9100, AS9110 and AS9120?
AS9100 is for organizations that design or make aerospace products. AS9110 is for maintenance, repair and overhaul organizations. AS9120 is for pass-through distributors and stockists.
Do we need ISO 9001 first?
No. AS9100D already includes all of ISO 9001's requirements, so you certify to AS9100D directly. If you already hold ISO 9001, your gap is the aerospace-specific requirements.
How long does AS9100 certification take?
It depends on your size, sites, products and existing system. We give you a timeline with milestones after the gap analysis.
Who issues the AS9100 certificate?
An accredited certification body approved under the IAQG scheme carries out the audits, issues the certificate and enters it into IAQG's OASIS database. Paradygm prepares you and supports you through the audit.
